The Blue Angel diner was no doubt Caylee's favorite place to eat. Therefore, it was fitting that they went there for her birthday. She loved the food, the athmosphere, plus it was close to campus. It was in the top 4 for Emmett and Caylee.
They were seated near the back in an almost empty diner. Only a few kids came here for lunch, which was also factored into the likablity. The booth they sat in was a semi-circle. Emmett sat on the edge which Caylee sat right next to him, opting for that over the other edge.
"I know what I waaaant," Caylee sang as soon as she sat down. She always knew what she wanted before she got there.

"Iiii don't..." he sung back followed by a sigh. The walk was a little... well he just wasn't feeling so great. He tried to hide it though, he was probably just tired. Definitely. He felt bad for them sitting at such a large booth when there was only two of them. And he was having a love hate relationship with his seat. He liked being on the end so he wasn't a bother if he had to get up for something. At the same time he felt so... too close to the rest of the place. Where as Caylee was in their own world, Emmett right at the edge of it. Ready to fall off any minute. ...not literally - he had plenty of room.
"I'll get the tuna burger." putting on a Marcellette based voice, trying to make a joke from a while back when the four went to lunch together at the union - of course belonging to the university near by - but they ate there from time to time anyway. And of course tuna was the last thing Emmett was going to pick for his meal today - or ever. He just felt like he had to make a joke before Caylee insisted he was being too serious again.

"Ewww tunaaaa," Caylee scrunched up her nose, recreating the events that happened along with the burger. She didn't even both opening her menu. "I'm having the mozterella sticks with a side of spicy curly fries. And a water. Which comes to eight, eighty four. Which I shall be paying you."

"Don't start with me..." Emmett opened up and behold! Tuna! He quickly turned the page. Pasta... mm. But not if Cay was just getting appetizers as her mean. "I'll get... fried mushrooms and ...non...spicey curly fries." he countered.

"Who's starting?" Caylee asked innocently. "I'm just saying, I have to pay you back for spending money on me. Just like you beg to do for me."
Not that he was ever able to follow through with his threats, but still.
"Wow, that took us shorter than usual," she teased. Emmie could be so indecisive.

A shrug. "I'm not too hungry." Not now, anyway, not that they were actually there. And after the walk had stretched at his torso, it wasn't the most comfortable feeling. "I doubt I'll even eat it all."

"You didn't eat breakfast or anything," she scolded. "You're going to eat all of your food, so help you."

He just snerked and nodded. "Yes ma'am, whatever you say." he humored. Emmett closed his menu and pushed it in front of him. Everything seemed to move around suddenly, even though he was sitting down. He tried not to make his quick lightheadedness so obvious, but he did plant his left hand firmly on the table top. After clearing his throat, "If you're are paying then I will definitely have to eat it all." he tried to joke.

"Damn straight," she nodded, taking the hand that was on the table into her own. "So... what time did you come in last night?" she asked innocently. She really wanted to know more about his gift, it was so wonderful and mysterious. She had no idea how he could accomplish it. Growing up with Emmett, you had to be a light sleeper.

If she had said that last part out loud his heart would have melted. He felt horribly guilty for all those years and... oh boy, that was a different topic all together. "Geez - listen to you." he looked up at her and his other hand quickly went to the table to keep him in place since she took his balance away into her own hands.

"Listen to me?" Caylee repeated. "Listen to YOU! All I want to know is a simple little thing and you won't even answer me. How can I give you proper credit? You're so stubborn, Emmers."

"Sorryrs." he replied with a bit of a stumble of words, not sure if that came out right. It wasn't as easy to add to as his own name. "Don't spoil iiit... It was mag. ic. al." he laid out. "Let's keep it at that."

"Do you believe in magic? In a young girl's heart? How the music can free her? Whenever it starts?" she spoke the lyrics, not wanting to embarrass Emmett.

Wow, how thoughtful of her. "...I'm going to have that in my head all day now. Thank you so very much." flashing her an uneasy grin.

Caylee pecked his cheek quickly. "I think you'll find a way to forgive me."
