The balloons were stuffed into the closet, except for the few that Caylee wanted to save. She kept some that said Happy Birthday, Beautiful, or one of Emmie's poems. Her desks were cleared off and party food were set upon them. There were some streamers set around the room, and music prepared for later. The beds were made and the room actually looked neat.
And where in the fuck was Emmett? Caylee had sent him out to go get dip a half hour ago and he hadn't been back since. Mark had gone out looking around the building for him, at the panicked Caylee's command, and only Pru and Caylee remained. There was Ari, of course, but he was a guest and wasn't supposed to be in the dorm before the party started.
It was getting closer and closer to 730, the designated time of the party.

At knock on the door, Caylee jumped. Was it Emmett? Was it Mark carrying the remains of what used to be her boyfriend?
She looked through the peephole of her dorm door. Nope, it wasn't Emmett. It was a sexy beast, though, so that was always good.
"It's Ari," she announced to Pru.
She opened the door with a grin and flung herself at Ari in a hug. "You came! Hi!"

"Nah, you know me," she stepped back slightly, letting him into the dorm. "Antisocial as ever. Don't have any friends, you see," she joked with him. "It's just you, Pru, our roommate Mark, and Emmett. Nothing too big. I'll be saving that for when I get home."

"Emmett went to go get dip," she answered him, helping Pru with the decorations. After the crepe paper was hung up, she turned around to Ari, wiping her hands on the tights of her jeans.
"So! Do I get a present?" she asked him with a grin.

"Just because you haven't given me your gift yet does not mean I cannot inquire it of my other guests," she made a face at Pru before jumping up and down at Ari's feet. "Gimme gift! Gimme gift!"

Caylee's face fell slightly at the delay of her gift. "Oh.. okay, then. Yea, it's fine. You don't have to hurry on it or... anything. When you can is fine." She gave him a small smile before ruffling the front of his hair playfully and stepping back.

"That's kinda pathetic if that took you a while," she teased back, ignoring his question. "Oh, but I guess even the great Ari can have hideous hair days." She reached behind her and grabbed the bowl of chips. She offered them to him with an angelic smile. "Chips anyone?"

"He's fine," she said, retracting the bowl. "We had a scare a few weeks ago. Nothing like that," she added before he could mention anything. "He collapsed in the library. I'm sure you've heard. All the fuckin' school knows..."

Caylee shrugged. "He just... turned around and collasped. He was unconscious and I had to pour water on him to wake him up. Then he went to the hospital and I stayed with him, and I spent the week in his dorm keeping an eye on him. He's supposingly doing better. They said that there was something wrong with his bones. That he wasn't eating."

"Eating gives you nourishment, and nourishment gives you strong bones. They said that his bones were deteriorating or something. I don't know, I was too busy with Emmett to listen to the doctor. You'd have to ask our parents for all that stuff," she answered his questions. "But he's been eating now. I've made sure of it."

"Oh please," Caylee began to blush madly. "I would've done the same for anyone else. Geez, you guys are going to turn me into a tomato. So much I've done for him now, I've lost him and my other roommate."

"I just sent them for dip," she replied to Pru. "It's not exactly rocket science."
She nodded at Ari, gesturing to the desk of snacks. "We got all kinds of sodas."

"I told you he wasn't as bad as we thought he was. He has a nice side to him. Besides, its my birthday, he's probably being extra-nice," she whispered to him. "... speaking of which... I don't remember getting a present from you..."

"Oh that's reassuring. The girl who is lost God knows where with my boyfriend has my birthday gift," she rolled her eyes before answering Ari. "One any bed you want, Ar."

"I think it's sweet." Emmett was told for the millionth time since they'd been walking together.
Marc found him out parking his bike by the dorms and she alerted him Caylee had been worried. He didn't mean to take so long and he felt guilt rush through him when she discribed what things had been like since he'd been gone. Emmett hadn't been riding his bike since he'd been back but he wanted to get to the store and back as fast as possible. Though he probably wouldn't say it out loud he was almost scared to walk on his own two feet. He was clumsy enough with that sort of travelling, being on a bike didn't give him the best feeling of security.
They'd been talking about Caylee's gift. His to her anyway. Not the balloons, not the ceiling. He was sure Caylee thought that would be the end of it, but in Emmett's eyes that wasn't a really 'gift'. He wanted to give her something she could hold, something she could take with her, something that could be more than seen and experianced but something for her to have.
Emmett walked in after Marc and froze. He didn't look him directly in the eyes, but he saw him. "Uh, I..." Markie pushed past him gently and Emmett took two steps out of her way while she closed the door. "I'm sorry it took so long." He wasn't about to admit he had to go pick that said gift up last minute. Layway.
