Caylee held him closer still to her, afraid that he'd suddenly hurt himself. "Calm down, Emmett, calm down. Tell me what? Who's they?"

He couldn't believe he was upset enough to be shaking like this, though how could he not be? "My....stupid, fucking parents!" he answered forcefully but with not much added volume. Water escaped from his right eye and he was quick to catch it. He may have been in complete pieces, but he wasn't crying anymore and he liked it that way. He couldn't let himself start again now. "They just-...y-your...the rights to- the parenting right- Shit MJ!" he couldn't finish what he wanted, or more like had, to tell her.

"P-parenting... parenting rights?" she repeated softly. She didn't like the sound of it. She didn't like the sound of anything that had to do with parenting. "What about parenting rights? Emmett, what about it?"

"Gawd, May...your mom's parenting rights were realised last week." he choked out, thankfully all in one piece without having to take anymore suspensful dramatic breaks. This was getting tiring, but he'd delt with it last week, and he'd gone through this worse part of news just an hour ago. So doing this now wasn't new, it was just harder to get it out to her face. This was big, he shouldn't have kept it a secret from her for over eight days. He felt like the biggest jerk. He wasn't worthy of any of her kindness now, nor how loving she'd been to him all week. "S-so you're a l-legal...kgh, orphan...n-now..." he held onto her tightly as he tried his best to continue. "May parents said they're going t-to adopt y-you. So you can stay with us."

If there was one thing Caylee hated being called above anything else, it was being called an orphan. "... An.. an o-orphan? I'm... an orphan?" she tried to not let go of Emmett, but she couldn't help her arms grow limp around him. Her throat got tighter and it became harder and harder to not cry. She couldn't cry when Emmett was crying. That was one of the rules. If she started to cry, then there was no hope for Emmett to stop. "An-.. adopt m-me? I-I don't... I can't... Emmett..."

"I know!" he sobbed out, and began to cry into his sleeves. It wasn't a heavy flow, but still it was something and he just hated himself more for it. So, so much. "M-my d-d-dad...he..." Emmett really thought she was going to laugh at him, considering there was nothing really negitive going on since she could still leave with them this way. That everything would be okay and she wouldn't have to leave. "C-...c-called...me...and he's..." He turned into Mary Jane even more, not able to stand it. He needed her right now. Though he felt like it was stupid for him to cry about his parents when Mary Jane's parent situation was far worse than his. This was nothing compaired to what he was about to tell her, and at the same time who else could he talk to? "He wants...a...divorce.." he explained horsely. "If they- then we- they're going to take you from us. You're going to l-leave. If my parents divorce you can't stay with me. Don't leave me." Now he was shattered and broken, limb against his sister as he went into tears like he had on the phone with his father. He just prayed that she didn't yell and scoled him like he had.

Rule number two with Emmett, if Emmett was crying into you, he became your number one priority. Everything else could wait. Everything else HAD to wait. She brought Emmett closer again, wrapping her arms around him so tightly, he wouldn't be able to move. However, she stared at the edge of Prudence's bed, where the covers tucked into the mattress. She blinked a few times, trying desperately to get rid of the few tears that were there. "I'm not going anywhere," she whispered strained. "I'm right here. I'm not leaving you. I promise." She glanced down at him. He was sobbing into her chest, and her voice seemed to snap out of it. She bent her head down, burying her nose in his black hair. "I'm not leaving you," she murmured now. "I'll never leave you. I'm right here, Emmie. I'm right here. I'm so, so sorry."

He just couldn't hold back anymore, with her tighter than life embrace and chanting words. He poured all his pain into her now, the noises excaping his mouth were like muffled wounded animal cries. All he wanted was to keep Caylee close to him as long as possible, in three years she could be with him forever if she wanted to. If she moved, it wouldn't be so easy. And would she forget about him? Maybe not, but how long until she stopped calling everyday or completely? She'd get distracted with her own life. For once Emmett wanted to be selfish and keep her to himself. She was his sister, he wasn't going to share her. She just wasn't allowed to leave, because he says so. He cursed his parents names into Mary Jane's night shirt. He didn't understand how they could do this to them.
Okay, maybe she was short of understanding now. She wasn't aware that Caylee was adopted or whatever she was. She tried to watch the two unnoticed, attempting to put the pieces together and figure out what they were really talking about. She assumed this boy must be more her age, probably a grade below the rest of them. Really she'd think he was eight, but again with commonsense. Marcellette slowly took a wide turn to go back to her bed. She sat in the middle, her side facing sleeping Prudence, and the couple on the far right side of the room while she sat alone on the right. She didn't watch them anymore but just listened. She wish she could have helped in some way. He sounded really broken up over what ever was wrong.

Caylee let him cry into her, like so many nights before. But now it was different. It wasn't because of a scare in the night, or a scolding from his parents. This was big. This dealt with both of them. "I won't let them take me away from you, I won't," she whispered into his hair. "You hear me? They can't do that. I'll fight it. We'll fight it. I won't leave you. I won't let you leave me. Are you listening to me? I won't go. I'm staying with you. Forever."

He nodded both times at her questions, his hand now gripping into her shirt like he was hanging from the roof. The tears just came and came and came, and even when they'd do this routine before he'd tried so hard not to just full out water works on her, but he couldn't fight it tonight. And he was trying. He choked over and over but never coughed, the wetness just getting stuck in his throat as he tried to hold back his wails and bawling. "Can I stay here t-tonight? Pleeaase!" he begged her in the same tone he use to give his mother at night before Mary Jane or when she wouldn't wake up. He would go to his parents room and they'd groan and complain while their son just stood crying at the side of their bed pulling on the sheets. He sounded like he was ready to hear her say no, and went straight to pleading with her. He couldn't go back tonight, and probably wouldn't make it back to his place if he did stay, but he didn't care. He rather not leave this room the whole day and sneak back tomorrow night, than going back now.

Caylee let out a watery, soft laugh. She stroked his hair and held him tighter for a second. "I think you're absolutely crazy if you think that I'm letting you out of my arms for two seconds, let alone letting you leave." She wouldn't let him leave even if it meant getting suspended for having a boy in her dorm. She wouldn't let him out of her sight. Out of her bed. Out of her arms. He was staying with her no matter what. This wasn't happening. It was the kind of thing that was kept at the back of her mind since she was mature enough to know these issues. But she never had once thought that it would become a reality. She only had two years and change until she was 18.

Emmett was not laughing. He just wrapped his arms around her night, not holdering her too tightly but he just had to hold her. He seemed to be running out of tears now, his flow a bit lighter. Her absolutely loved her fingers going through his hair as always but when she laughed he just felt like a stupid little kid. "I'm sorryyy...!" he groaned out still serious and upset as ever. He didn't know what to think, he hadn't thought about it before telling her he wanted to stay, he just didn't realize it was probably a given. And he felt like a completely idiot for asking. He was still trying to fight back the whimpering which just made it sound more distressed. He really wanted to stop, still feeling like a complete loser as Caylee tended to him like this.

"Shh, shh," she soothed him, rocking him ever so gently. "Come on, you need to rest. Lay down with me." She slid out from under him, letting him fall back onto the mattress gently. She left his side for a second, turning out the dimmed light, then going immediately back to his side, bending down to turn on the night light that she kept plugged in, just in case. The light was blocked from reaching the side of the room where Pru and Mark were, so they should've been fine. She sat on the the side of the bed before getting in, smoothing back Emmett's hair. "Are you okay? Do you need more light or something? Anything?"

The minute she came to lay next to him he wanted to latch back onto her but he resisted. His arms were crossed over his chest, both hand gripping onto his arms, his legs right under his arms. He wanted to tell her to stop it. That she was treating him like he'd just had a nightmare, but it was so much more serious than that. And at the same time what she was doing was really helping him. He was close to just flat out begging her to help him calm down. She knew exactly how and she knew him well, it'd be so much easier if he could just ask but he thought it sounded stupid. He felt sick, but he wasn't about to tell her that. He could feel his body heating up, now that he wasn't crying anymore. He hoped she didn't notice and just take it as body heat period. He didn't want to be sick right now. Especially because she probably wouldn't be happy about it, he made himself sick with the way he'd reacted to everything. He shook his head lightly, a lie to the light question. It wouldn't have mattered as long as she didn't leave him, he figured maybe he'd be okay then.

The problem with Caylee was that she didn't release her emotions if there was someone that was obviously feeling were than her, or at least, had started before her. She felt like she always made the situation worse. So, instead, she kept it in until she was alone and felt like she could cry freely. And that was usually when Emmett had fallen asleep. She nodded softly and slid in next to him. She sat up slightly, making sure that the blankets covered them both well. She laid back down, tentatively pulling Emmett closer to her, wrapping her arms around his waist. "It'll look better in the morning, I promise. You don't have to leave early, just stay here with me. I'll be here when you wake up," she whispered into his ear softly.
