"Ticks? Like ... how do you mean?" Pru lifted her hoodie, letting it fall against her brow. Wisps of her hair fell in front of her face, making her look like a storybook depiction of Little Red Riding Hood.

She pressed her lips together in thought. "No, nothing like that. Nothing I can think of. I tend to sing to myself, though. Sometimes I think no one can hear me, that the music's in my head, but then I get the weird looks. My mother called it musical Tourette's."

"That's not so bad," she shrugged. "Emmie sometimes cries in his sleep, but I'm used to that. The only thing I have is that I can't sleep alone. Not like... without someone in my bed, but without someone in my room. Abandonment issues."
