"I don't know, it sounds like someone just got thrown against the wall," she peered through the peek hole, but saw nothing behind it. The source must've been to the left or right. "I think we should at least look."

Emmett collapsed again and he felt his lip swell. When he removed his hand he was bleeding. His palm cupped the proof and he turned away from the sight with disgust. He leaned back against the wall and quickly he was pathetic Emmie - Emmett Lloyd. He wasn't that kid that had completely picked a fight like that. He was crying and he hung his head as he fought back the rivers that travelled down his cheeks. He was in shock and usually when that happened he would be tearing up like this. But the pain was a killer - he had no tolerance. He wanted to call for Caylee but not when he could feel Ari still there.

"No, don't," Caylee held out her hand. "I have a feeling it's someone hurt rather than someone attacked," and it was both. Caylee swallowed hard, then pushed open the door, letting it swing open a few inches. She poked her head out, first looking to the left, then the right. When her eyes fell upon the crumpled Emmett and Ari, her eyes widened, and her hand flew to her mouth. That seemed to answer all of their problems. "Emmett!"
Anyone looking at the scene could tell that Emmett was the one that was worse off. Caylee immediately flew to her boyfriend's side, propping him up against him. Her stomach turned when she saw that his hand was stained by scarlet. And another glance at the scene, and the revelation that Ari was there only meant one thing to Caylee.
"Emmett, what happened?!" she demanded. "Are you okay? You're bleeding, shit... Em."

"Whoa, seriously?" she coward, thinking the girls might have been over exaggerating but still eating up all their worries. She followed out behind Prudence and picked up Caylee's phone off the floor. Before speaking about it she saw what was going on.
Emmett flinched at her touch at first, leaning away from her in complete fear. After that first moment he let her help him and he shook with tears. "F-fucking...h-...geh..." Emmett struggled with words, fuming over his attacker. True, Emmett started it. Emmett shouldn't have pushed him. He felt horribly guilty about it and yet he hated him more than anything at this moment.
Mark covered her mouth with her hand as she studied Emmett's state from afar. What in the world could have happened? She turned slightly to see Ari. She wanted to ask if he was alright, but she just watched the two boys without words.

"Can you stand?" Caylee asked him quietly, crouching down at his side. Even if she wasn't 110% sure that Ari was the one that had made Emmett bleed, she still would be showing the same amount of attention to him. He was her boyfriend. Boyfriend above boy friends. She wrapped an arm around his torso, being careful not to hurt him at all. "C'mon Em, stand up with me."

At first he leaned on her to get up but once he found his footing he stood without her, trying not to push her away too hard or anything. The last thing he wanted was her babying him in front of Ari like that after what they just went through. At the same time he could have just clung to he to show of to Ari who she was helping, who she was worried about - because it damn well wasn't him - it was Emmett. He could have totally used it. Yet he didn't. He wanted to stand on his own for the moment, whether he could literally or not.

But Caylee didn't let him off so easily. She kept her hands on him, in case he decided to stumble or loose his balance. "I'm going to go get him cleaned off," she told Prudence. "You and Marc stay out here and try to find out what the fuck happened in here. And we can just hope that no one else heard and called security."
With a firm hold on Emmett, she began to lead him back into the dorm room. She had lost her appetite for pizza, that was for sure.

He was wobbling badly and he did eventually have to cling to her as she lead him toward the dorm. He couldn't even look at Ari. He didn't want to. He held his jaw up with the back of his fist and took some deep breaths. He swallowed hard and it left his throat burning and dry.
Mark had been watching Ari - he was definitely crying. She pulled on the hem of Pru's shirt. She didn't like Cay leaving Mark and her out in the hall with Ari like this. Especially if they had to question him.

Marc kept her eyes on the sulking teen and nodded sharply a few quick times to say Hellz yeah she thought Ari slugged Emmett. No doubt. Why was a good question though.

Well, too bad so sad for her, because in the state Emmett was left in, if Caylee had to be the one questioning Ari, then there'd be another one who was holding their jaw.
She helped Emmett walk back to the bathroom, not really caring if he dripped blood. At least, not now. Once in the bathroom, Caylee placed her hands on Emmett's hips and gently lifted him up and placed him on the counter.
"What happened to you, Emmie?" Caylee asked him quietly, gently trying to lift his hand off of his jaw.

That was the last thing Marc wanted to do. "...umm... Ari?"
He leaned his back against the mirror and held his head back with his hand, his eyes shut as he continued to wince like a pup. "Ss! No-no ah..." he cried as she removed his hand from under his chin. He put it back and held it in pain after he hissed. He dropped his head and held the side with both hands. He was close to rocking back and forth. He begged the pain to go away.

"I have to see if it's broken, Emmie," she explained, trying to be as calm and soft with him as possible. "Then we'll get some ice for you, and I'll wash all the blood off. It'll only take a second. You can squeeze my arm as much as it hurts, okay?" it was a tactic they used with him when he was a little kid.

He answered but she didn't know what to say to follow it. She looked back at Pru hoping she'd take over from there. Especially if Ari had punched him, Mark didn't want to say anything to get him upset even more.
"Shit May..." he cried and let go of that spot she wanted to see. He met his left eye with the back of his left hand and his chest kept heaving sharply with his breathing and sobs.

She took his left hand and directed it to her shoulder. "Squeeze, Em," she told him.
She looked at his lip and jaw. It looked terribly swollen, and was probably going to be heavily bruised, but as she gently pressed down, wincing from Emmett's squeezes only slightly, it seemed to be completely intact. "It'd not broken," she informed him. "Just bruised. But don't touch it."
She turned the taps of the sink on, letting lukewarm water flow. She reached into one of the cabinets and pulled out a dark red washcloth. Her babysitting course that she took when she was thirteen told her that she should use dark clothes when cleaning up blood. It made the child less afraid of the blood.
"This is going to hurt a little," she told him bluntly. "So squeeze, okay?"

"Great..." he mumbled and moved closer to her on the counter. He clenched his jaw, making very sure he wouldn't bite his tongue on accident. He gripped at her shoulder and mainly her shirt. He didn't want to hurt her. He didn't want to fight her either, so he waited for her to do as she wanted and tried to prepare himself.
"Hey, Ari?" she tapped his shoulder twice and then quickly backed up against Prudence again. She said he wouldn't bite but she wasn't so convinced. "Can you...tell us what happened?" she asked sheepishly, knowing how stupid she probably sounded.
