Caylee sat beneath a nearby tree and watched the boy try and fail at cartwheels. She could easily see his fault, and it was nearly driving her insane as he tried again and again. Call it her OCD, she couldn't stand it. She got up and walked to him, her hands planted on his hips. "Your legs aren't straight. That's why you keep falling."

"Your legs weren't straight," she repeated again, determined. "Watch, the way you were doing it would get you what you're getting. But if you keep your legs straight..." She took a few stepped back and then started forward, she leaned into a cartwheel, keeping her legs straight. She landed it, standing still.

"You tripped? I didn't know someone could trip on their arms," she replied, her hands on her hips.

"I came over here when you were on the ground," she rolled her eyes. "Maybe you just bruised your brain when you fell on your ass."

"Zen? Well you're not going to find zen in the middle of the courtyard of a school. Try the library."

"If you want calmness, do not go by noisy quads, stay in your dorm room," Caylee recited. "Original haiku. Caylee Thayer."

"Nice to meet you. You're a worthy opponent. Stubborn as fuck, just like me," she sat down next to him, crossing her legs.

"That weird kid just happens to be my best friend and foster brother," she narrowed her eyes at him. Strike one. "You wanna say anything else about him?"

"That's because he IS a little out there. He's brilliant," she said, still somewhat defensive. "And his name is Emmett."

"... Thank you," she said, a little taken aback, but still. "So, Ari, where are you from? Around here?"

"We're from even farther away. Upstate. Take two or three hours to get here. The car ride is mostly spent sleeping or playing one of those stupid games that Emmett instists on."

"Ah, so you're pretty well off, I venture," she raised her chin. "I see. Emmett denies that his family is, but then again, they could afford to become foster parents just so he wouldn't be lonely."

"You don't look at the type that would," she laid back with her knees still bent, her hands supporting her head.

"Yea, well, no matter how well off Emmie and his family may be, I still need to get a job," she puffed out a breath, making her bangs flutter. "So..."

"I'm sure there is. I really couldn't give two shits. I don't want to work," she sighed. "I wanna stay a kid, you know? I'm not even sixteen yet."
