The reason Caylee was running late because she needed an extra pep talk from Pru, this time sans-sleep meds. She'd be staying away from those for a while. She watched Ari enter the cafe from a safe distance away, before walking in on her own after a few minutes. She followed him with her eyes, so she could avoid any awkwardness from having to look for him. She walked to his table and tapped his shoulder from behind, mentally preparing herself for the task ahead of her.

"Mm, yea," she said with a small smile, sitting down across from him. In her lap, she toyed with her cell phone, flipping it over and over again in her hands. "I didn't pull you out of anything, did I?"

....Well, that just made everything a hell of a lot more difficult. "...Oh, Ari..." she started softly. She couldn't stop her hand from reaching across the table and taking them. But, then she stopped, putting them down. "... I can't accept these, Ari. I'm so sorry."

"It's not that, Ari. They're beautiful," she reassured him. "That's not it... we need to talk..."

"I'll keep them if you... still want me to," she looked down at the table. "Can you promise not to hate me after this?"

She kinda nodded her head, without really moving. Her cell phone turned faster and faster. "Ari... I really.. don't know how to say this. And I really don't want to hurt you. It's the last thing that I want to do to you. But... I-... I'm... seeing... someone..."

"Romantically," not a single joke. "I have... a boyfriend. Whatever we had... or didn't have... whatever. It has to end."

"That's why I'm so confused about this and telling you. I don't know what you think we have, or what I even think we have. You told me that you thought nothing was official. And then you... you bring me flowers! And you're begging at my feet for me to forgive you. And you have all these strikes. And come on, Ari. I'm just so goddamn confused."

"Yes, I'm serious," she said, spinning her cell phone out of anxiety. "Ari, this is not going in the direction I wanted. I don't want to hurt you. I'm trying not to hurt you."

"Of what?" she rolled her eyes. "Read a romance sometime, Ari. Flowers means that you're dating someone. All the things that you've been doing recently have been pointing to you thinking that we're dating."

"So that means that we can break off whatever we were having, the fucking, whatever, without any harsh words or feelings?" she tried. "I want to still be your friend. You're a great friend. You don't need for me to teach you that."

"Of course I still want to be friends. That's what I just said, isn't it?" she smiled softly. "Besides, how could I ever resist a pout like that?"

"No, actually," she leaned back with a smirk of her own. "I want to bring my boyfriend home. I'd like to just.. hang out with you."

"It should," she kept her smirk. "I'm just laying down the law. Friends. With NO benefits. Just friends."

"Then get one of your blonde bimbos. They seem to follow you everywhere. Or, you know, a little quality time with yourself never hurt."
